These simple, 6 ingredient rusks are so easy to make at home
Ingredients:
750g Baker's Dream Cake Wheat Flour
3 tsp baking powder
375 grams of butter or margarine
1 cup of sour milk (Inkomazi)
3 eggs
½ cup sugar or 3 tablespoons of honey
Method:
1. Preheat the oven 180ºC.
2. Sift dry ingredients into a large dish.
3. Rub in the margarine or butter until the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, sour milk and sugar/honey together.
5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well. This will form a dough.
6. Roll into balls and place next to each other in a prepared pan.
7. Bake for 45 min.
8. Remove from oven and slice into rusks.
9. Return the sliced rusks to the oven and reduce the heat to 100ºC to dry out until crisp.
