Simple & Easy Crumpets

Baker's Dream simple crumpet recipe

Golden brown and crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. Crumpets are traditionally served with butter and jam or honey, but they can also be enjoyed with savoury toppings like cheese or ham.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Baker’s Dream Flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • ¼ cup castor sugar

  • ½ cup milk

  • pinch of salt


Method:

  1. In a bowl, combine egg, sugar and vanilla essence.

  2. Sift in flour and salt to the mixture above and add milk.

  3. Combine to form a smooth pourable batter (you can blend this or stir with a whisk)

  4. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat.

  5. Add a teaspoon of butter to the pan.

  6. Use a large serving spoon to spoon the batter into the pan.

  7. Cook for two to three minutes on each side. When you notice bubbles on one side turn and cook the reverse side.


Enjoy these served with more butter, jam, syrup or cream.
