Warm, Gooey Cinnamon Buns - Baked to Perfection!
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
¾ Cup Warm Milk
7g Instant Yeast
3 Cups Bread Flour
1 Egg
1 Egg Yolk Only
½ tsp Salt
¼ Cup Sugar
¼ Cup Butter, Melted
2-3 Tbsp Oil
For the Filling:
1 ½ Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
¼ Cup Butter, Softened
⅔ Cup Brown Sugar
For the Frosting:
3 Tbsp Butter, Softend
½ tsp Vanilla Extract
113g Cream Cheese, Softened
¾ Cup Powdered Sugar
Method:
In a microwave safe bowl, microwave the milk for 40-45 seconds. In a large bowl, add the warm milk and yeast. Add in the egg, sugar, egg yolk and melted butter. Whisk until well combined.
Knead in the flour and salt until dough begins to form.
On a flat and floured surface, knead the dough until it forms into a ball, for 8-10 minutes. Add more bread flour if needed.
Using a paper towel, rub the oil on the inside of a large bowl and transfer the dough into it. Cover with cling wrap and a warm towel.
Allow the dough to rise for an hour, or until double in size.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll into a 35 x 24cm rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough leaving a small space along each long side of the dough for the seam.
In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle over the dough, pressing it lightly to help stick if needed.
To roll up the dough, start from the long side and roll tightly. Cut into 3cm sections with a serrated knife (9 pieces in total).
Line a 23 x 23cm baking pan with baking paper. Place the rolls into the pan and cover with cling wrap and a warm towel. Let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Remove the plastic wrap and towel and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes before frosting.
For the frosting:
In a bowl, use an electric mixer to combine cream cheese, vanilla extract, butter and powdered sugar. Mix until fluffy.
Spread over the cinnamon buns and enjoy!
