Start your morning with a burst of flavour, perfect for a breakfast treat or afternoon snack.
Ingredients:
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
½ Cup Sugar
½ tsp Baking Powder
¼ tsp Salt
1 Cup Cold Butter, cubed
1 Egg
3 Apples, peeled and diced
¼ Cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
Method:
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Grease a baking dish.
In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture becomes crumbly.
Beat in the egg to form a dough.
Press half of the dough into the prepared baking dish.
In another bowl, mix the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Spread the apple mixture over the dough in the baking dish.
Crumble the remaining dough over the apples.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool before cutting into bars.
Tip:
To make the apple centre gooey, mix in 1 Tbsp cornstarch in the apple mixture.
