Amasi Scones

Bakers Dream Amasi Scone Recipe

These scones are delicious and oh-so-easy to make for any baker!


Ingredients:

• 500g Margarine

• 4 Eggs

• 30ml Baking powder

• 250ml Amasi

• 6 cups Baker's Dream Cake Wheat Flour

• 250ml Sugar

• 1 pinch salt


Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into large metal bowl and mix gently with a wooden spoon or spatula.

  3. Rub in margarine until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs

  4. Make a well in the centre of the bowl.

  5. Whisk together egg, amasi and milk in a separate bowl and pour 2/3 of this into the well.

  6. Combine the ingredients using a cutting-motion with a wooden spoon or spatula.

  7. If the dough is not soft enough, add the remaining egg mixture, a little at a time, until the dough is soft but not sticky.

  8. Place mixture onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until soft and firm dough is formed.

  9. Roll out mixture to a 3cm thickness and cut out scones using a scone cutter, dipping the cutter in additional flour after each scone to prevent sticking.

  10. Place scones onto a greased baking tray and bake for 15 minutes.
