Baker's Dream Amagwinya Blog Recipe

Homemade golden and crispy Amagwinya!


Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Baker's Dream All-purpose Flour

  • 2 tsp Sugar

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 packet Instant Yeast (10g)

  • 1 Cup Water, lukewarm

  • Vegetable Oil, for frying

Method:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

  2. Gradually add the lukewarm water to the dry ingredients, mixing well until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  3. Place the dough back into the mixing bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

  4. Once the dough has risen, heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat.

  5. Pinch off small pieces of the dough and shape them into round balls or oval shapes.

  6. Carefully place the dough balls into the hot oil, frying in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes per side.

  7. Use a slotted spoon to remove the Amagwinya from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  8. Serve the Amagwinya warm with your favorite filling or enjoy them plain.
